WINTER BREAK CAMP 2012 !
Teambuilding   |   Living History   |   Natural Science   |   High Adventure

February 20th - 24th

Schedule:

Camp hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Each day will begin with ice breakers and field games and will include lunch, an afternoon snack, and at least one hour of free-time. Each child is responsible for bringing in his or her morning snack.

Monday: “Winter Fun”
This day will be a celebration of enjoyable activites that we can only do when snow is on the ground. Kids will be given clinics in how to cross country ski and will head out on a trip around our grounds and trails.  They will also learn how to snowshoe and will see parts of the forest that cannot be accessed without snowshoes. Finally, the kids will be able to go tubing on our world famous tubing hill.
* The youngest kids will snowshoe, but not X-country ski.

Tuesday: “Introduction to Winter”
Continue  the week with 3 amazing winter activites. Join our knowledgable instructors and learn about the ecological wonders found near our campus in the winter. Then follow the tracks of native animals through the woods and learn a thing or two about their habits. Lastly, you will learn how to survive in the woods amidst the harsh conditons during our Winter Survival activity.

Wednesday: “Back to the Past”
Get ready to flash back in time to the early 1800’s! Begin by feeding our farm animals (goats, sheep, chickens, ponies and pigs) and then make old fashioned crafts like they did in 1812. Next, visit the 1812 Homestead to take part in hearthbaking, shingle making, candle making, old-fashioned games, and experience what school was like in a one-room schoolhouse in winter.

Thursday: “Adventure Excursion”
Hike throughout the Adirondack Park. Leave from Pok-O and hike trails near Whallonsburg, the Adirondack Loj or Poke-O-Moonshine. Play fun games along the way and eat lunch in the forest.

Friday: “Pok-O Combo”
It’s the last day of camp. Come climbing at The Crux- Champlain Valley Climbing Center. In the afternoon, we’ll come together for the Pok-O-Lympics where everybody wins!
