TimeQuest

The Setup
Students are told that they will be traveling to another time, either the French and Indian War or the American Revolution, and that they have to find answers to a list of questions. Due to the suspicious nature of most people during wartime, they must come up with a good reason why they should be trusted and why the historical figures should answer their questions.

The Game
At the 1812 Homestead, the five characters have chosen their spots and lit fires. For the Revolutionary War version, the personages are a revolutionary soldier, a Dutch fur-trader, a British rifleman, a loyalist widow, and an Iroquois guide aligned to the King’s forces. They will answer the students’ questions as long as the guests are cordial and seem trustworthy, and will send them on their way is they seem to be hiding their true intentions.

The Discussion
After all the student groups have talked to all of the historical figures, the groups come together with the actors to discuss what they learned as well as the general theme of the subjective nature of history.
