Ponds and Lakes
Students learn about the differences between ponds and lakes, then discuss the concept of a watershed. Given a map of Long Pond, they will see how a watershed’s area is determined.

Pond Health
Considering pollutants such as acid rain and mitigating factors like invader species, students will help determine the pH and dissolved oxygen level of Long Pond.

Biological Integrity
The ultimate ecological test determines the health of a pond ecosystem by assigning points to different species based on their tolerance of pollutants, then sends the young naturalists out to see what they can catch.
