In 1905, Dr. Charles Robinson founded Camp Pok-O-Moonshine for boys, on the southern shore of present day Long Pond. The camp expanded throughout the years, and in 1967 Camp MacCready for girls was created. In the 1970s, the two camps were merged together to become one co-ed camp named Pok-O-MacCready. Pok-O-MacCready Outdoor Education Center was started in 1974, utilizing the extensive educational and residential facilities year-round.
Since 1974 the center has grown and worked with numerous schools and groups. The programs continue to teach great lessons and skills while providing exciting new experiences. In October 2007 the center became a not-for-profit organization, allowing it to reach an even wider range of clients.
