Snow Tubing

January 9, 6pm to 9pm,     $10/person ($8/person for groups of 4 or more)

Join us for a night of tubing on our lighted tubing hill! After a thrilling slide down the hill, ride back up to the top on our rope tow. Bring your own tube or sled, or borrow ours. Fun for all ages—families are welcome!

 

Cabin Fever Lecture Series: A Lecture by John Rayburn

January 19, 7:00pm    Free.

Did you know that the Champlain Valley was the site of an inland ocean? The places where we live were once home to Beluga Whales and other marine animals! Join SUNY New Paltz Assistant Professor of Geology John Rayburn for a lecture on this fascinating piece of local history, which will include information from the most recent research on the topic.

 

Winter Survival

January 24, 1:30pm to 4:00pm     Ages 10 and up. Cost $8/participant.

Do you know how to survive in winter’s cold weather? Come learn how to build snow shelters and the tricks to building fires in the snow. A hands-on, fun program for older kids and teens.

 

Cabin Fever Lecture Series:  A Lecture by Sharp Swan

January 26, 7:00pm

Discover the life of an Adirondack logger in the late 1800s to early 1900s. Sharp Swan will share a slide show exhibiting several decades of research from the old logging camps in the Adirondacks.

 

Snow Festival

January 30, 10:00am to 4:00pm    $10/person ($8/person for groups of 4 or more); kids under 2 come free. 

Snow tubing, relay races, snowman contests, snow cones, good food, and much more! Bring the
family to play outside and celebrate winter!

 

Cabin Fever Lecture Series:  A Lecture by Andy Buchanan

February 2, 7:00pm

Join University of Vermont History Professor Andy Buchanan for a lecture about local history. Andy is a cultural and military historian with a vast knowledge of the Champlain Valley from the 1600s to the present, and will present a lecture that introduces you to some of the colorful characters who have lived in the region over the years.

 

Families on Skis

February 6, 9:30am to 12:00pm

Ages 6 and up. $8/person ($6/person for groups of 4 or more.)

Whether you are a family of one or a family of 10, join us for a morning of cross-country skiing! We’ll begin with some instruction and practice on our field, then head across Long Pond to our ski trails. Equipment rental included in price.

 

Winter Break Camp

February 15-19, 8am to 4pm

School’s out! It’s the perfect time to send your child to “camp” at Pok-O. Throughout the week we’ll offer a sampler of our winter activities, including snow tubing, winter hiking, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing.

Enjoy winter in the Adirondacks with fun for the whole family! From daily cross-country ski trips across Long Pond to nights spent snow tubing or in front of a cozy fire, Winter Family Weekend offers relaxation and adventure for all.

 

Ice Climbing

February 20, 9:00am     Ages 10 and up. $10/person.

Spend the day learning to scale an ice face under the guidance of Pok-O-MacCready’s trained instructors. We’ll provide all the gear you need to learn to ice climb—all you need to bring are warm clothes and a bag lunch. All skill levels are welcome. Please wear sturdy boots and be prepared to be outside all day.
